Location. The French Quarter Inn is located in downtown Charleston, S.C., across the street from the City Market. The U.S. Custom House historical site is less than two blocks from the property. The South Carolina Aquarium, the Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center and boats to Fort Sumter are one mile away.
Features. Housed in a 19th-century brick building, the French Quarter Inn reflects the neighborhood's genteel surroundings. Black iron gates open and lead to the entrance foyer, which features green-and-cream marble floors. Overhead, the rotunda's skylight provides light for the property's four stories. Filigreed torchiere lamps light the mahogany spiral staircase, which leads to the traditional lobby on the second level. Overstuffed sofas and upholstered armchairs are arranged into conversation areas. Upon check in, guests are greeted with complimentary champagne and ladyfingers. In the evenings, the lobby hosts complimentary wine and cheese receptions; later at night, milk and cookies are served. Coffee, lemonade, ice tea and candies are available in the lobby throughout the day. Complimentary continental breakfasts are served daily in guestrooms or in the courtyard. This outdoor area features bistro tables amid trellises and a fountain. The Tristan Restaurant is a fine-dining establishment that serves European-influenced American fare.
